Cornerstone’s Clinic and Integrated Health Services bring mental and physical health care together to close the life expectancy gap for people with serious mental illness. Through therapy, psychiatry, and nurse-led care coordination, clients receive comprehensive support for both mind and body—building stability, wellness, and longevity. Our clinics are located in Bethesda, Silver Spring and Rockville, and have the capacity to serve 1,650 individuals annually.
Cornerstone’s Clinic and Integrated Health Services, including our Health Homes program, provide whole-person outpatient care that unites mental and physical wellness. We recognize that individuals living with serious mental illness often die 10 to 25 years earlier than the general population most often due to preventable physical health conditions. At Cornerstone, we refuse to accept that disparity as inevitable. Our mission is to close that gap by caring for the mind and body together.
Through our Outpatient Mental Health Clinic, clients receive evidence-based therapy, psychiatric evaluation, medication management, and nurse-led health coordination. Our Integrated Health and Health Homes programs extend that care by addressing chronic physical conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and cardiovascular disease, while ensuring that every client has access to preventive screenings, wellness education, and coordinated medical follow-up.
This model treats the whole person not just a diagnosis by surrounding each client with a multidisciplinary team of clinicians, nurses, and care managers who collaborate to promote stability, reduce hospitalizations, and improve quality of life. Someone may receive medication in the morning, participate in therapy midday, and engage in a wellness check or creative program that afternoon.
Cornerstone’s integrated approach embodies what it means to care for people fully: addressing both somatic and psychiatric needs so that recovery is not just possible, it’s sustainable. Because at Cornerstone, mental health is health, and everyone deserves the chance to live a long, meaningful, and healthy life.
As our Mission Statement says, all of the staff at Cornerstone want to work with you to move toward recovery so that you can live a fulfilling life as independently as possible. Recovery means having the life you want regardless of your mental health or substance use disorder. To be in recovery does not mean that you are cured – it means that you are living a full life that includes living with the disorder(s).
We are sure you have your own idea of what your recovery will look like. You have your own hopes and dreams for the future. We would like to share some of what staff think could be included in your recovery:
Whether you want to work on one or more of these or have other goals for your recovery, the staff at Cornerstone believes in helping you get there by helping you identify your own vision for recovery.
Our staff is committed to providing an understanding, caring, and helpful environment to those clients who are either struggling to or who are equally committed to overcoming their mental health and/or substance use disorders.
Some of the benefits of enrolling into our clinic services is being able to participate in our clinic groups. All of our clinics offer support groups to those that share a common diagnosis or interest. They come together to support one another and share ideas and their experiences. These groups are led by professional therapists to complement our clients overall treatment. Our support groups are designed to build coping skills and developing new skills.
