Youth Psychiatric Rehabilitation Program (Youth PRP)

The Youth Psychiatric Rehabilitation Program (YPRP) helps adolescents and young adults living with mental health conditions build the emotional, social, and daily living skills they need to succeed. Designed for youth transitioning between school, home, and community life, YPRP focuses on developing independence, confidence, and stability through structured activities, counseling, and peer support.

Many participants come to the program struggling with isolation, anxiety, or inconsistent school attendance. YPRP meets them where they are teaching coping skills, improving communication, and fostering accountability in a supportive, nonjudgmental setting. Staff guide participants in setting and achieving personal goals while helping families reinforce those skills at home.

The result is measurable growth in self-esteem, resilience, and readiness for adulthood turning uncertainty into direction and helping youth realize their potential.

 

Who We Serve

  • Services begin once we receive the completed referral
  • Must have a current mental health diagnosis
  • Must be 5-17 years old and reside in Calvert, Charles or St. Mary’s County
  • Must have or qualify for Medical Assistance (MA)
  • Must have a current therapist and regular participation in therapy (school based, private practice, crisis intervention, etc)
  • Behavior or other difficulties have left child at risk of/required hospitalization, police intervention, school suspension or IEP/BIP. DSS or DJS involvement, or out of home placement
  • Current psychiatric assessment/evaluation
